This is a debate that has been raging a long time, since the inception of the idea of assembling a computer. There are many reasons why you could buy a branded computer but there are many reasons also, why you had rather go for an assembled one. It is a difficult fight and the outcome will be a series of advantages and disadvantages on both sides. But the concern is really what you are comfortable with and what is to your advantage.
See, basically an assembled computer is one where you buy all the parts of a computer separately and assemble them on your own. For this type of a computer you will need to know what you have to buy and what you want to buy. You will have to buy also the monitor, the mouse and the keyboard on your own. An operating system will also need to be bought and installed separately. So, all the work will be done by you without any professional help.
For a branded computer the scenario is pretty much the same. The only difference is that all the parts of the machine will be pre-assembled saving you the trouble of assembling it on your own. Your operating system will be loaded and every other detail would be already attended to when you buy it. All you need to do is to take it home and plug it in. Your new computer will work without you having to do anything. You may think that this is the best as you have to take no headache, but it is not so. Any branded computer will not have all the parts from that company. Remember, generally the case of the computer and the monitor will be of the branded company while all other parts inside the CPU will be from other manufacturers. But if you are an amateur and donot really know much about assembling then it is best to go for the branded computer. Also, since they are branded, they will afford a warranty period within which you can change any defective part of your machine.
But, if you are an expert or have good knowledge in computer hardware then it will better to go for an assembled computer. The biggest advantage that any assembled computer has is that you get to take the parts of your choice and that too at a very cheap price. It is never a problem with the money. For those who know nothing about assembling but are attracted to it, they should check the internet for assembling tips and steps. It is very easily available and Googling it will give you multiple hits. Personally I feel that assembled computers are far better than the branded ones since you will have to buy an OS CD which most branded computers don't come with. Also performance of any assembled computer is better than the branded ones and the speed is great. The machine is simply very worthy of all the trouble. But as a warning I would like to add that if you don't know the dealer very well then refrain from assembled machines. You maybe tricked and cheated. If you are a novice then please go for a branded computer as it is a lot safer with all its warranty and high price.
